Bird's-eye View of Site (Video 6/5/09)

February 2008: Lombard Park District residents pass a referendum that supports the construction of a new community pool. The Board of Park Commissioners review options and establish a timeline.

March 2008: A variety of options are discussed including bathhouse designs, filtration and pumps, pool features and depth of water.

April 2008: Reviewed site, aquatic and building designs and selected options to complete plans.

May 2008: Construction plans are 95% complete.

June 2008: Sent plans for permitting to Illinois Department of Public Health.

July 2008: The contract for demolition is awarded and the process begins. Staff meets with Il. Dept. of Health in Springfield to discuss pool plans.

August 2008: Bids are approved for the remaining construction phase and the Village of Lombard issues the footing and foundation permit. Demotion is completed.

September 2008: Permits are received from the State of Illinois.

October 2008: Permits are received from the Village of Lombard and construction begins.

November 2008: The pool shells are poured.

December 2008: Footings for slides completed and permits are received for three water slides and one drop slide. Masonry work begins.

January 2009: Masonry work continues on the bathhouse.

February 2009: Slide installation begins and the bathouse roof iinstalled.

March 2009: Slide installation continues and the pools' water holding capacity is tested.

April 2009: The pools' are painted and windows installed on the bathhouse. The play features are installed.

May 2009: The pools are filled and bathhouse construction is completed.

June 2009: Paradise Bay Water Park opens on June 6, 2009.
